Metzingen/Shanghai, October 26, 2017. HUGO BOSS and the Rockbund Art Museum (RAM) celebrate the opening of the 2017 HUGO BOSS ASIA ART exhibition with a cocktail event in Shanghai. Taking place at “The Nest”, it is one of the week’s highlights in the city’s vibrant culture scene. The guest list includes stars like Huo Jianhua (Wallace Huo), Du Juan, Qi Xi, Jing Chao, Guo Jingfei and Tang Yuzhe as well as numerous local socialites.

The HUGO BOSS ASIA ART exhibition will be open to the public from October 26, 2017 to February 11, 2018, showcasing works of the four artists Tao Hui (China), Yu Ji (China), Li Ming (China) and Robert Zhao Renhui (Singapore). Together they are the four nominees of this year’s HUGO BOSS ASIA ART Award. In its third edition, the accolade continues to focus on Greater China’s and South East Asia’s emerging artists who are at the early stages of their artistic creation and exhibition practices.

“The HUGO BOSS ASIA ART Award has taken a wonderful development over the past five years. We are very enthusiastic about the 2017 show and the inspiring works of the nominated artists,” says Dr. Hjördis Kettenbach, Head of Cultural Affairs, HUGO BOSS AG.

The exhibition is curated by the RAM and encompasses artworks from different forms and media including videos, sculptures, installations and performance. Larys Frogier, RAM Director and Chair of the HUGO BOSS ASIA ART jury, further elaborates: “With a brilliant and unexpected use of media, the artists unfold new forms of narratives through the Museum. Their very unique proposals demonstrate how fresh and meaningful their contributions to contemporary art in Asia are.”

Based on the exhibition of these four artist’s works, the winner of the 2017  HUGO BOSS ASIA ART Award will be selected. The winner will receive a stipend of ¥300,000 and be announced on November 23, 2017.
