HUGO BOSS FOUNDATION ENTERS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH GLOBAL MANGROVE ALLIANCE

METZINGEN, MARCH 05, 2026

The HUGO BOSS Foundation is partnering with the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA), a coalition of organizations dedicated to mangrove conservation. By integrating the knowledge of local communities, the GMA seeks to restore mangrove habitats and enhance their resilience to climate change. Launched in 2023, the HUGO BOSS Foundation is driven by the purpose to be “Bold for the Planet”, supporting climate and environmental protection initiatives around the world.

The Global Mangrove Alliance works at community, state, and regional levels, providing a science-based platform for knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement guided by best practices. The HUGO BOSS Foundation’s donation of EUR 1 million over four years will strengthen the GMA’s mission of conserving and restoring mangrove ecosystems in West Africa and enhance global coordination.

”We are very excited to partner with the Global Mangrove Alliance, a leading coalition driving large-scale impact for coastal ecosystems,” says Daniel Grieder, CEO of HUGO BOSS AG and Managing Director of the HUGO BOSS Foundation. “Their work to conserve and restore mangroves is a powerful example of how environmental protection, climate action, and community resilience can go hand in hand. This collaboration reflects our ambition to be bold and take responsibility for the planet beyond our own value chain.”

Anete Berzina-Rodrigo, a Member of the GMA’s Steering Committee: “Mangrove forests are vital coastal ecosystems that support rich biodiversity, provide essential resources to vulnerable communities, and act as natural barriers against hurricanes and tsunamis. Africa is home to 20 percent of the world’s mangroves with most of them located in West Africa, where they are disappearing much faster than the global average. We greatly appreciate the HUGO BOSS Foundation’s donation which will be directed towards community-led restoration, conservation, monitoring, skills development as well as strengthening collaboration both regionally and globally.”

Along with the Grameena Vikas Kendram Society for Rural Development and Coral Gardeners, the GMA is the third long-term partner of the HUGO BOSS Foundation, further expanding its geographical reach beyond Europe, Oceania, and Asia to now also encompass Africa.
