At HUGO BOSS, sustainability is at the heart of our business activities. Our goal is to initiate real change towards a more sustainable future within the scope of our operations. This is why our sustainability strategy has the motto ‘FOR A BOLD & BETTER FUTURE’.
But sustainability is more than this. Everyone can be part of it. On our HUGO BOSS campus at our headquarters in Metzingen, there are many opportunities to get involved and experience sustainability for yourself.
Our commitment to sustainability in this area is also recognized externally: our company restaurants have been awarded the GreenSign Gastro certificate. Over 130 criteria in 10 areas are used for the assessment. In addition to purchasing and food offer, the areas of environment, social responsibility and biodiversity are also taken into account.

•Our buildings are very energy efficient. We continuously modernize existing buildings so that they achieve high standards; for new buildings, these standards are a prerequisite.
•The high standards of the new buildings are also confirmed by external certification bodies, such as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB).
•Our buildings offer*: energy-saving LED lighting; heat pumps; automatic shading and lighting; green electricity (100% of the buildings at HUGO BOSS AG, and additionally in 15 more countries worldwide).
*Not all aspects included in all buildings
•Thanks to six photovoltaic systems on our buildings, we generate our own electricity and make a major contribution to our emission reduction targets within our own area of responsibility. Further photovoltaic systems are coming in 2023.
•Our self-generated electricity could supply around 400 four-person households for one year.
We use the resources we need – such as water and energy – as responsibly as possible. We use special water fittings to reduce water consumption, and lights are switched off, for example by motion detectors, when they are not needed.
Our employees make a significant contribution, too:
• By switching off monitors at the end of the working day
• By charging devices and then unplugging them, rather than leaving them on constant charge
• By switching off the lights and projector when leaving a room
• By questioning and reviewing processes that require energy (e.g. heating/cooling)
• By avoiding waste, and separating it properly
At HUGO BOSS, we aim to make getting to work easier and more sustainable.
Job Bike: Employees strengthen their fitness & protect the environment
• HUGO BOSS supports employees by offering attractive monthly leasing rates for bikes
DEUTSCHLANDTICKET: Employees enjoy unlimited travel on local public transport with the Deutschlandticket
• Employees benefit from tax advantages
Bus Shuttle-Service in Metzingen: Employees can get to their workplace in Metzingen comfortably and easily
• Our shuttle will commute regularly between the train station in Metzingen and several HUGO BOSS stops
CARPOOLING: Colleagues drive with colleagues and save emissions
• Colleagues are already using established and self-organized carpooling. But there's more to come. In fall, HUGO BOSS will offer an official platform for employees to organize carpooling.
Sustainability relies on us walking the path together. Every day, many colleagues in very different teams work to implement our sustainability goals – together we are committed to engage for a Bold & Better Future. In addition to our sustainability strategy, however, there are so many other opportunities, even for those colleagues whose jobs at first glance have nothing to do with sustainability. Interest is huge, which is something we really appreciate. That’s why employees can also get involved in various initiatives.
CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING
Support the elderly or people with disabilities, help refugees, or join a clean-up project: Corporate Volunteering offers a variety of opportunities to engage for a good cause. Our Corporate Volunteering Program is open to all employees in Germany. As an employee you can support a good cause, as a volunteer, during your working hours for up to three working days a year.
SUSTAINABILITY AMBASSADORS
Can we make our campus even more sustainable? Our Sustainability Ambassadors are employees working in various different departments. They have undergone further training on sustainability, and are constantly on the lookout for ways to make our working environment even more sustainable. Anyone interested is welcome to participate. In addition to the positive changes that are triggered in this way, it is also a great opportunity to expand your network.
At HUGO BOSS, it is particularly important to us to make sustainability tangible, and to include all employees. This is why we regularly organize events on campus, which are also livestreamed whenever possible, allowing colleagues from around the globe to be informed and to participate.
In 2023, we hosted our first Sustainability Strategy Day. The event was dedicated to our new sustainability strategy, which is guided by the claim “For a Bold & Better Future”, and offered talks and interactive sessions. Concluding the event, the HUGO BOSS top management held a discussion with employees about how we can put our sustainability commitment into action.
A side program offered further opportunities to connect informally with experts and likeminded colleagues, to learn about sustainability on campus, and to find out more about sustainable products, which were exhibited on the day.
In the past, we have also offered a variety of other event formats for HUGO BOSS employees, including a SWAP Market and a Sustainability Expo.
