HUGO BOSS publishes its Sustainability Report 2017

  • Integration of the legally required non-financial report according to CSR-RUG
  • Presentation of the company's contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Updating of sustainability targets, particularly in the area of product sustainability

April 2018 - HUGO BOSS AG published its fifth Sustainability Report. As in previous years, the report documents in detail the Company's targets, measures and performance in the area of sustainability.

The Sustainability Report contains the non-financial report required by CSR-RUG (CSR Directive Implementation Act) for the first time in 2017. To determine the contents of the report, the Company has comprehensively updated its materiality analysis. In the course of the analysis, 13 topics were identified, which are presented in the non-financial report. These relate in particular to social as well as environmental impacts in the value chain and corporate governance.

In defining its sustainability strategy, HUGO BOSS also follows recognized frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. The Company has identified five SDGs to which it makes a particular contribution and explains this in the current report:

  • SDG 4: Quality education
  • SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth
  • SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production
  • SDG 13: Climate action
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals

In addition, the Company focused in particular on the sustainability impacts of its products in the reporting year. Based on natural capital valuations of all product categories, the Company is working on the definition of more sustainable sourcing strategies for its most important materials. Targets for cotton have already been defined and more materials will follow. As part of its circular design strategy, HUGO BOSS is also committed to promoting closed material cycles in the textile industry.
