Workshop of ideas for a more sustainable future - HUGO BOSS at the FashionSustain Thinkathon

July 2018 – In the run-up to Berlin Fashion Week, the FashionSustain conference, a platform for sustainable innovation in the fashion industry, opened its doors. In this context, HUGO BOSS actively took part in the FashionSustain Thinkathon. The goal of the Thinkathon was to bring together visionary thinkers from all over the world to jointly develop innovative solutions for the implementation of closed material cycles in the premium fashion segment.

As one of the Thinkathon's “Challenge Hosts”, HUGO BOSS contributed its own task: two interdisciplinary teams from the fields of textiles, science, logistics and IT developed initial approaches for a customer-centric model of closed material cycles for the most important product groups (suits, polos, shirts and trousers), taking into account the competitive environment of the Company.

Focus of the challenge was the question of how the customer can be encouraged to become part of the system. During the workshops ideas such as bonus systems for returned garments or so-called "bring back parties" were developed.

HUGO BOSS will now examine to what extent the results of the Thinkathon can be implemented into the circular design strategy of the Company. More information on the circular design strategy can be found here.
