Let us #EmbraceEquity

This International Women’s Day, we would like to congratulate all our colleagues for their incredible achievements across all spheres of life. The day also presents an opportunity for us, as the HUGO BOSS Family, to reinforce the call for equality and equity.

To this end, let us first highlight the difference between ‘equality’ and ‘equity’:

  • Equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities.
  • Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.

This year, we, at HUGO BOSS, have joined the International Women’s Day Organization’s global movement to #EmbraceEquity.

What does #EmbraceEquity mean to us? We are continually working to facilitate:

  • a place where you can be your authentic self
  • a sense of being included and belongingness for all
  • initiatives and activities for further advancing gender parity within our company
  • platforms for employee exchange and involvement to foster female empowerment
  • a favorable work environment and culture where every talent can thrive

We see that embracing gender equity needs active involvement from all including men. So as part of this campaign, we invited our colleagues Döndü Ünal-Haktar, Vice President Quality and Production Excellence and Luis Gonzaga, Senior Vice President Leisurewear, to share their thoughts on equity. Here’s what they have to say:

There will never be a perfect moment to demand equity and get it. It is a continuous effort that demands cultural change that we, as a society, have to dedicate ourselves to.
Döndü Ünal-Haktar
Sometimes we all go through difficulties that we cannot influence. The differentiating factor is attitude, and the appropriate consideration makes a difference to us and to others.
Luis Gonzaga

This International Women’s Day, let us all join hands and continually work towards a gender-equitable society. Happy International Women’s Day!
